Services

Arbisense AB provides ready-to-use, yet adaptable, solutions for living environment sensing on a large scale. Our core product, the Arbisense GeoEnv platform, encompasses all necessary functionalities tailored to researchers and policy makers, while also facilitates community engagement:

Smartphone-based data collection

Our smartphone-based data collection platform enables researchers to gather a wide range of real-world data remotely and unobtrusively. Data types include, but are not limited to: photos, photo annotations, GPS location capturing (with anonymization and privacy protection options), and a flexible questionnaire delivery service for pre-planned and just-in-time questionnaire delivery to the users (based on the principles of ecological momentary real world studies). Our app is ideal for deployments/studies that require real-world data collection (short- and long-term) with high user engagement.

Eating habits in Workplaces (FESKIS study, Stockholm 2025)
Smart fruit stations in schools (PREVENT project, Stockholm 2025)
Food environment mapping in neighborhood (DigiFood project, Södertälje 2025)
Foodscape walkabout in neighborhoods (Copenhagen 2024)

Secure EU-based cloud storage

Ideal for supporting large-scale data collection efforts/studies, without jeopardizing the privacy of the participants by sharing personal data to open cloud services. We rely on secure cloud services, located within EU, ideal for supporting large-scale data collection efforts/studies, without jeopardizing the privacy of the participants by sharing personal data to open cloud services.

Advanced data analytics and visualizations

Our flexible web-based dashboard can provide easy information access to the end user, be they policy makers, educators, health scientists or clinical personnel. We offer advanced data visualizations via our GeoEnv dashboard, including various maps presentations, filters and combinatory presentation of collected data. Programmed in Python, our GeoEnv dashboard is flexible and can easily be adapted to give information access to policy makers, educators, health or living environment scientists, clinical personnel and to the end-user. REST API support can also be provided for integration of data and results into other platforms.

Projects

PREVENT — Improve and Upscale Primary Prevention of Cancer by Addressing Childhood Obesity

PREVENT is an EU-funded Action to Improve and Upscale Primary Prevention of Cancer by Addressing Childhood Obesity. Through diligent implementation research and a comprehensive approach, PREVENT aims to lay the foundation for a future where healthier lifestyles are promoted from an early age, reducing cancer risk factors associated with obesity. In PREVENT, Arbisense will employ technological tools in living labs throughout Europe, in an effort to identify gaps in current obesity prevention policies and measure the effectiveness of newly proposed ones. CONNECT-CARE — Inclusive Healthcare Access and Personalized Health Management for Children and Adolescents

CONNECT-CARE aims to transform healthcare by providing personalized obesity prevention and management strategies and improving bidirectional communication between healthcare professionals and end users. CONNECT-CARE will use cutting-edge technology to track individual health data, such as diet, exercise, weight, and behaviors, and then use AI to predict and prevent diseases at an early stage. In your phone — about the online food environment of children and their exposure to digital marketing of food and beverages

This project was conducted to gain a deeper understanding of children’s exposure to food and beverage advertisements on social media. By having the children themselves submit screenshots from their social media platforms, the actual exposure to food advertisements could be measured objectively. In total, 49 children (63% girls, 37% boys) in the 13-16 age group participated. The participating schools were located in areas with varying socioeconomic chatacteristics in Stockholm (Östermalm, Tyresö, Farsta, Vårby) and Uppsala (Valsätra-Ultuna). In addition, the project investigated the children’s own thoughts and experiences about food and beverage advertising on social media through focus group discussions. In this study, Arbisense provided the tools for data capturing. Learn more about the study & download the report.

In your face — about children’s food environment and exposure to food advertisements

A project involving children as citizen scientists, aiming to collect location-aware photographs of food and food-related characteristics of their neighbourhoods in an effort to automatically map the urban foodscape environment across areas with different socioeconomic characteristics. FESKIS — Food Environment South Karolinska Institutet Study

FESKIS explores the current food environment at Karolinska Institutet’s southern campus. The study focuses on three central campus buildings—Neo, Novum, and Zanderska Huset. Using the Mobile Sense app (developed by Arbisense AB), participants log their meals by uploading photos, allowing for detailed analysis of eating patterns. Learn more about the study.
